The Dolby family booked me for a newborn photoshoot almost three years ago when they welcomed their beautiful daughter into the world. Sienna was a tiny, sleepy, week-old newborn when we did the first shoot, so I was delighted when the family got in touch years later and invited me back for a family photoshoot and to snap some maternity shots ahead of their upcoming new arrival. It was great to see Sienna again, now an adorable, cheeky toddler! Where has the time gone?!
As soon as I started shooting it was clear to see how excited the family all were at the thought of their newest member. That silent, knowing look between parents countered with Sienna bouncing with energy every time we spoke about her baby brother or sister. This is what I love to capture in my maternity sessions and during the shoot, we also snapped some beautiful family photos as their love and warmth for each other just radiated from them.
We went for a balanced mix of natural photos and a few posed ones as per the client’s request. Sienna was fantastic throughout and even when she needed a ten-minute break, I managed to capture some great shots of her during screen time. These ‘fly on the wall’ photos are my favourite as they represent real life and capture you at your most natural and relaxed.
I loved every moment of this maternity and family photoshoot, and I’m thrilled that they booked me again for when their new little one arrives. One of my favourite aspects of this line of work is the rare privilege of being allowed to document the journey and growth of your family unit, from those precious, newborn beginnings to that first big milestone! If you would like to book a family or newborn photography session, please don’t hesitate to contact me here and we can discuss a bespoke package that meets your needs.
I look forward to hearing from you.
